“Cyberonia”, a new virtual world game for cyber wellness was launched by NCPC
Introduced by the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC), the game called ‘Cyberonia’ was launched on 8th of April, 2011 (Friday) at Holy Innocent's Primary School. The event was attended by Minister of State for Education & Home Affairs Masagos Zulkifli to honor the launch of a new virtual world game to educate children about cyber wellness.
The concept of the game came about from a survey conducted by the NCPC in 2008 where it was found that although youths are very savvy with the usage of computers; their awareness of safe and responsible online practices is very low.
As pioneers in the arena of integrating inquiry-based learning seamlessly through rich media, HeuLab and Amdon were commissioned by the National Crime Prevention Council to create the game "Cyberonia" which is the first of its kind in Singapore,
Cyberonia is a new virtual world game where kids are engaged by self directed learning through play. They will learn how to handle the many facets of cyber wellness, cyber safety and cyber security.
